rise over run

rise over run

A mnemonic device to remember how to calculate the slope of a line that is not vertical or horizontal, that is, the amount that the line rises (or declines) over a certain interval divided by the length of that interval (the run). So, I want you to plot out the data on a graph, then calculate the slope of that graph for each of the five-day increments. If you have trouble figuring out how to find the slope, just remember that it's rise over run.
