slang A person, especially a Caucasian, who pretends to be, or dresses and behaves like, a stereotypical member of an urban gang, without actually being involved in criminal activities. Derived as a portmanteau of "white" or "wannabe" and "gangster," sometimes stylized as "wanksta," in the same manner as "gangsta." Primarily heard in US. Man, don't take no guff from that phony-ass wanksta. He acts tough, but he'd run home to his mama at the first sign of trouble. A bunch of snot-nosed little wanksters showed up at the park, blaring their hip-hop music and trying to cause trouble with the other people there.
