yank in

To pull, tug, or jerk someone or something inward very suddenly or forcefully. A noun or pronoun can be used between "yank" and "in." Tom opened the door to his office and yanked me in so that we could speak in private. I started yanking in the fishing nets as soon as the storm clouds appeared on the horizon.
