shoe up

To ensure a horse has been fitted with horseshoes. A noun or pronoun can be used between "shoe" and "up." You'll want to shoe up your horse before you set out, or he'll be in for a world of hurt. A: "Are those horses ready to ride?" B: "Yessir, Tony shod them up this morning."
