stay in the dark
stay in the dark
To remain ignorant of or uninformed about something. I always stayed in the dark about our finances when we were married, so I found it really difficult to manage money after we were divorced. The boss makes a point of staying in the dark about some of our…less legal activities. I know politics can seem really boring, but if you stay in the dark your whole life, you'll never have any say in the way the country is run.
