slang An exclamation of surprise or disbelief, used as a minced oath of the vulgar phrase "shut the fuck up." A: "You're not going to believe this, but I just won $2 million!" B: "Shut the front door! Are you joking me?" A: "Some TV producer just called. They want you to write a new sitcom for their network!" B: "WHAT! Shut the front door!"
