recommend (someone or something) for (something)

1. To suggest someone or something as being ideal for some particular task, job, requirement, etc. I'd really recommend this tool for the job—it'll do everything you need. I have every confidence in recommending Jeremy for the job.
2. To suggest that someone or something receive or benefit from something. Whom would you recommend for the promotion? I'd recommend this one for repairs first, as it's in the worst condition of the three.
