out of keeping with (something)

Inappropriate to or inconsistent with the traits or characteristics of a particular thing, place, or situation. Their behavior, even if not illegal, is completely out of keeping with the standards we expect from our players, and they have been suspended from the league indefinitely as a result. The work she has been doing is out of keeping with what was agreed upon in the contract.
