gunk up

To cause something to be filled or covered with some thick, greasy, or filthy substance. A noun or pronoun can be used between "gunk" and "up." You've got to make sure no dirt gets into the seal, or it could start to gunk up the inside of the machinery. I hate it when the kids get ahold of my phone, because they invariable gunk the screen up.
