(good) old-fashioned luck

Luck, especially when considered in contrast to other, more active things. We've been working hard all quarter to get the project launched. Now, we just need some good old-fashioned luck to help it reach its highest potential for success. Sure, a team needs to be talented to win. But don't discount the importance of old-fashioned luck in helping determine the outcome of a game.
