empty in(to) (something)

1. To drop or flow into something. This usage is often used to describe moving water. A noun or pronoun can be used between "empty" and "into." Did you know that this river ultimately empties into the Pacific Ocean, which is thousands of miles away?
2. To pour or dump the contents of something into something else. A noun or pronoun is used between "empty" and "into." I emptied the leftover pasta into a container so that I could wash the pot.
