weeder

weeder

An especially difficult introductory college class that aims to eliminate less intelligent, less capable, or less dedicated students (i.e., "weed them out") from a program. Often used as a modifier before other nouns. I heard that computer-programming course is a real weeder. My brother failed it two years ago—along with most of the other students in the class. I don't know why these professors are so hell-bent on destroying students' morale with these weeder classes.
