1. To wage war on some other country or group of people. Under the rule of its new dictator, the country has begun warring on its neighbors in an attempt to consolidate power in the region. The various tribes in the region have warred on each other for decades over the limited resources available.
2. To attempt to eliminate, destroy, or overpower someone, something, or some group. Many fear that the new government will soon begin warring on organized religion. As a result of its war on drugs, the country has inadvertently warred on the millions of people trapped in cycles of poverty and addiction.
