1. informal An unopposed or especially easy victory or success. A reference to a horse race in which only one contestant is entered. It was a walkover for the team, as they steamrolled the opposition 45–3. Everyone was expecting a walkover for the popular politician, but he ended up losing after a spectacular grassroots campaign by his opponent.
2. informal A person or thing who achieves unopposed or very easy victory or success. Everyone expects her to be a walkover for her political party this election, but I have my doubts. Their latest product should have been a walkover for the company given their position in the market, but they bungled it so badly that it completely flopped at launch.
