Will the true, genuine, or authentic person please identify themselves? Used rhetorically to suggest that the person in question has up until now been disingenuous or failed to live up to their own potential or ideals. With the administration being upended each week and the government currently in a total shutdown until a new budget is passed, many are asking: Will the real president please stand up?
