to be truthful

to be truthful

A set phrase used to emphasize that one is speaking honestly (and perhaps reluctantly). Well, to be truthful, I've never liked her husband that much. I know I should move on with my life, but, to be truthful, I'm still holding out hope that Sarah and I might get back together some day.
