TINA

TINA

An acronym for "there is no alternative," often used as a slogan by politicians and, more recently, those in the financial industry. Famously used as the slogan of British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, referring to her opinion of the market economy. The ultra-low interest rates of banks around the world has brought about the return of the TINA market, inevitable purchasing of stocks and bonds due to an absence of financially viable alternatives. Every election, various candidates from independent parties come forward, but the TINA principle wins out each time, leaving the two primary parties as the only real choices.
