take care of numero uno
take care of numero uno
To put one's own needs, concerns, or responsibilities before those of anyone else. In Spanish, "numero uno" literally means "number one," a common euphemism for oneself. The only way you're going to get ahead in this business is if you take care of numero uno. It doesn't make you a selfish person if you look take care of numero uno from time to time. Just don't do it to the exclusion of other people.
