there's a first time for everything
1. It is good to try all manner of things one is unaccustomed to or wary of. A: "I just think I'd be too scared to go skydiving!" B: "Hey, there's a first time for everything. You might surprise yourself!"
2. Even if something has never happened before, there is still a chance that it could happen in the future. Two years ago, I would have never thought I'd see these two political parties working together, but here we are. I guess there really is a first time for everything.
