shmoozer

shmoozer

Someone who excels at or makes a point of chatting or gossiping casually with others, especially for personal gain or self-promotion. Originally from Yiddish. I've never liked that guy. He's always struck me as a shmoozer who's more interested in getting ahead than striking up a genuine friendship. A: "You certainly were gregarious at the party last night!" B: "What can I say? I've always been a talented shmoozer!"
