ship up or shape out
ship up or shape out
To improve oneself in some way or else leave a given situation. Usually issued as an ultimatum, this is a humorous reversal of the much more common "shape up or ship out," meaning the same. You graduated college 10 years ago and you still live at home? Come on, man, it's time to ship up or shape out.
