something you don't want is dear at any price

proverb It is a waste of money to buy something you don't want or don't need, even if it is at a reduced price. A: "Hey, they've got silk curtains on sale for $150, marked down from $400!" B: "But those are really ugly and don't match any room in our house. I know it's a good deal, but something you don't want is dear at any price."
