(something) as a service
A virtual distribution model in which a client pays a third party via subscription to store and maintain something (most commonly software) that can be accessed by the client over the Internet (i.e. on the cloud). Sometimes hyphenated. Software as a service makes it easy for businesses to maintain a current software suite. Windows 10 introduced the concept of Windows as a service.
