Close to or sharing some characteristics or values with the stated quality or thing without actually being it or fully encompassing it. Calling allies "gay-adjacent" is usually meant as a compliment. Do they realize that calling the headmaster's remarks "racist-adjacent" does not make them suddenly OK?
