1. verb, slang To cancel (something). There were a number of aspects of the project we had to scratch in order to make our December deadline. I heard they scratched the Modern Literature class for the fall semester.
2. noun, slang Money. I needed to buy books for my class, but I just didn't have the scratch. Make sure you have enough scratch for food on your trip.
scratch that
interjection A set phrase telling someone to ignore, forget, or disregard what was just said or instructed. I wonder how much it would be to have our wedding inside the aquarium? Actually, scratch that, that's a ridiculous idea.
