To remind one of someone or something. Cold weather like this always puts me in mind of childhood trips to our cabin in the mountains. That actor puts me in mind of John. Don't you think?

put someone in mind of something
If something puts you in mind of something else, it reminds you of it. This put me in mind of something Patrick said many years ago. A lot of the time he may put you in mind of King Kong, a beast who loved a beautiful woman but was awkward about showing his feelings.
