Considering the positive, beneficial, advantageous, etc., aspects of a situation, especially one that is or would be otherwise negative, detrimental, or disadvantageous. Look on the bright side—at least you got a severance package. The movie is sold out, but, on the bright side, there are plenty of other ones I wouldn't mind seeing.
