on talking terms

on talking terms

Sufficiently amicable with someone (or each other) to have somewhat regular conversations; on speaking terms. Often used in the negative to convey that two people are in such disagreement that they refuse to speak to each other. A: "I didn't realize that you and Stella were on talking terms again after your fight." B: "Yeah, ever since we apologized to each other, we've been getting along great!" I'm not on talking terms with him right now, so you better not talk to him either.
