One has a strong, often inflexible desire for something, especially something one expects to happen or be attained soon. Our hearts were all set on traveling to Spain for the summer, until Lizzy broke her leg and we had to cancel the trip. I want to spend the money on a new car, but my husband's heart is heart set on getting new furniture for the living room.
