nail (something) to (something else)
nail (something) to (something else)
To affix something onto the surface of something else by driving a nail or similar fastener through both. I tried nailing the oak picture frame to the wall, but it was too heavy for the flimsy drywall to hold. I'm going to nail a sign to the tree out front to warn trespassers that our dog will bite.
