move up into (something or some place)

1. To advance into some elevated area or region. The guerrilla soldiers moved up into forests of the mountains, making it nearly impossible to track them.
2. To gain entry to a higher position within corporate or social hierarchy. I'm making a little bit more money, sure, but I have so much more work since moving up into management that I'm not sure it was worth it. He doesn't care about making good music, he just wants to be successful so we can move up into the upper crust of society.
