kick (one's) heels up

1. To engage or partake in jovial festivities, especially by dancing. They spent most of their Saturdays kicking their heels up at the various nightclubs around town.
2. To relax or lounge with one's feet elevated, as on a sofa, recliner, bed, etc. After such a long week, all I wanted to do for the evening was kick my heels up and watch some movies with a big bowl of popcorn.

Fig. to act frisky; to be lively and have fun. (Somewhat literal when said of hoofed animals.) I like to go to an old-fashioned square dance and really kick up my heels. For an old man, your uncle is really kicking his heels up.
