old-fashioned A friendly, jocular expression of farewell to someone. The "funny papers" refers to the section of a newspaper in which comic strips are collected. I'd better be going now. I'll see you in the funny papers! My grandmother always used to say "see you in the funny papers" whenever we left her house.
