Under one's control or influence; in one's possession. You're the boss now. The decision is in your hands. The referendum will put the issue in voters' hands this April.

COMMON If something is in your hands, it is in your possession or under your control. This move will leave too much power in the hands of the party leadership. You have to trust your surgeon. Your life is in their hands.
