1. To give one all of the possible options or amenities. He is a very important customer, so be sure to give him the works so that he reviews our business favorably. A: "What do you want on your pizza?" B: "Give me the works!"
2. To physically assault or harass one; to rough one up. When John refused to pay protection money to the mafia, two of their goons took him outside and gave him the works.
