give forth (something)

1. To emit or discharge something. The corpse gave forth the most repellent odor. The heavily industrialized city gives forth so much air pollution that people are told to stay indoors as much as possible. The machine began giving forth a horrible grinding sound, so I figured something was wrong with the motor.
2. dated To utter or say something. The man on the corner gave forth proclamations and prophecies of humanity's impending doom.
3. dated To issue or distribute something. The county judge had given forth a warrant for Tom's arrest. The group of economists gave forth a lengthy academic paper criticizing the current administration's policies.
