get the glad hand
To receive a friendly greeting, often when it is feigned or false. I don't think she actually likes me, so I suspect I got the glad hand when she seemed so happy to see me. A lot of companies around here have gotten the glad hand from the governor over the years, but we haven't received any of the support she keeps claiming is heading our way.
