1. To proceed with some action, intention, or pursuit, especially after a delay, distraction, or pause of some kind. Go and get on with your homework—you've played enough video games for one afternoon. I've been waiting for the concert to start for 30 minutes—I wish they'd get on with it.
2. To deal with, tolerate, or become accustomed to something. How are you getting on with your new job? Are you liking it so far? I just haven't been able to get on with the new operating system they've put on our work computers.
