draw near

1. To get close to someone or something, either literally or figuratively. You need to draw near to your family in this time of tragedy. Come on, draw near to the wall so you can see exactly where to put in the nail.
2. To approach or come closer. This usage is typically used to describe the passage of time. As the time to process into the church drew near, the students quieted down and lined up in alphabetical order.
