To send or force someone or something away from some place. The threat of bedbugs chased everyone away from the hotel. Unfortunately, our dog can't rest until he has chased all birds from our yard.

to drive someone or something away from or out of a place. The police sirens chased the thief from the building. We chased away all the children from the pond.
