be a little off

1. To be somewhat sickly, unwell, or out of sorts, either physically or mentally. Jim's a little off—I wonder if he's feeling all right. A: "That dog on the corner is a little off, don't you think?" B: "Yeah, let's walk another way home."
2. To be somewhat strange, incorrect, inaccurate, or substandard. A: "The rest of your portrait is coming along really well, but the hands are a little off." B: "I know, hands are just so hard to draw!" The gameplay is great, but the graphics on the characters' faces are a little off.
3. Of food, to be in the early stages of spoiling. These chicken breasts are a little off—I think we should throw them in the garbage.
