an expression used by food service personnel to determine if the customer is ready to order food. Waiter: May I take your order now? Mary: Of course. Jane, what are you going to have? Jane: I'm still trying to decide. Waiter: I'll be back in a minute. Waiter: Can I take your order? Mary: Yes, we're ready.
