DNACPR

DNACPR

An initialism of "do not attempt CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)," a medical order meaning do not use CPR to preserve brain function or restore a normal heartbeat in a patient. Used especially in reference to end-of-life care. After consulting with his doctor, my grandfather decided to sign a DNACPR order. There is a DNACPR form in place, but the hospital still has the authority to intubate the patient.
