1. In the area immediately nearby. I'm hoping there is somewhere nice to eat in the vicinity of our hotel. The suspect was last seen somewhere in the vicinity.
2. Close to or approximately a certain amount. My preferred salary would be $30,000 per year, or at least something in the vicinity.
