2. By extension, a phrase used to indicate that something will not be available much longer and then is ultimately gone. A: "You better get in here—these cookies are going, going, gone!" B: "Ugh, I just missed out on the last one!"
3. A phrase used to describe something as it gradually disappears from view. Often used to describe a home run in baseball, as the ball flies over the outfield fence. And that ball is going, going, gone! It's a home run for Miller!
