Originally from the music halls, “how’s your father” or “howsyerfather” was an all-purpose catchphrase, a euphemism for anything; subsequent usage, especially in the services during World War 2 mainly narrowed the sense to “a sexual dalliance”. - PETE: [T]he chapter ends in three dots.
