An expression of admiration for someone who is similar in a certain interest, belief, manner, or characteristic, which is then used to complete the phrase. Derived from the expression "a man after my own heart." I love the way he cooks, he's a man after my own taste buds! She loves to read James Joyce. A woman after my own mind.
