1. To be ready and willing to do something Sure, I'm up for going to the mall. I'm a little busy right now, but my brother is probably up for a game of basketball.
2. To be slated for a potential change in one's official status. The boss said I might be up for a promotion after the next quarter. Nicky's been on his best behavior since he's up for parole next year. Dr. Stephen will be up for tenure at the end of this term.
