That is a good question. Used to humorously express that the topic of the question is unusual or frustrating. Also seen as "Well may you ask." A: "What happened to all the cookies you baked for the bake sale?" B: "You may well ask! Andre and his friends ate them." What happened to my hair? Well may you ask! My barber took a little too much off the top.
