twist (something) off of (something)

To remove something from something else by turning it forcefully. A noun or pronoun can be used between "twist" and "off." Our toddler figured out how to twist the cap off of a milk jug this morning. You just can twist the various pieces off of the model spaceship if you want to paint them or swap them for something different.
